On 10th March, steel-making plant made test production of stainless steel 2Cr13A and achieved 7 furnaces continuous casting for the first time.
2Cr13A stainless steel is one of the martensite stainless steels. Since it has great mechanical strength, high hardness, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance, it is widely used as the material to manufacture pump shaft, bush, impeller and fastener, which withstand strong stresses. But it is very easy to get quality problems of suface depression, longitudinal cracks, and even steel leakage, which is dangerous to the casters and remarkablely increase the production cost. All of these make it very hard to start mass production.
Based on the experience from previous tests, the steel-making plant made careful test plan, including composition adjustment, improving caster cooling, using different kinds of mould powder, applying new vibration parameters. The technicians involved in the whole casting process, checked the billets surface quality, adjusted the test datas, and finally achieved 7 Furnaces continuous casting without steel leakage. The test would provide more technical datas which would be helpful to improving the products quality and starting mass production.
